Charles Lindbergh
Charles was one of a few American Heroes of his time. Charles was the first person to fly alone from New York to Paris nonstop. He was promised a $25,000 reward if he could accomplish the task. On May 20-21, 1927 he made this historic accomplishment and earned the nicknames of "Lucky Lindy" and the "Lone Eagle".
Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897, in Atchison, Kansas. She accomplished so many goals as one of the few female aviators of this time. The first goal she accomplished was flying aross the Atlantic Ocean solo, later on, she was the first person to fly from Hawaii to California. The biggest trip she made was flying across two-thirds of the world. She began this trip on March 17, 1937 in Oakland, California. Her trip ended when her tire blew and a shop absorber awhile she was landing on the runway in Honolulu. She tried about on May 20, 1937, this time she was going from Oakland to Miami. But on this trip she had mechanical problems along the way. She did have Fred Noonan as her navigator on her second attempt. They reached Miami and made all final adjustment's on the plane. After they fixed everything they depart from Miami, Florida to Puerto Rico. On june 30, 1937, Earhart and Noonan made it to Lae, New Guinea. After they made it to New Guinea, they headed to Howland Island which was their most dangerous stop. When they where heading to Howland Island they ran into heavy clouds and rain northwest of Howland. Earhart never reached her destination, because she dissapered off the coast of the island. Amelia Earhart and Noonan where never found.
Dempsey
Jack Dempsey was a UFC fighter who won the heavy weight champion of the world. He held that title from 1919 to 1926 when he lost a 10 round decision to Gene Tunney in Philadelphia. Dempsey was not only a heavy weight champion but has one of the best knockout records in history. He achieved an unparalleled winning streak of 32-0, with 28 knockouts including 17 of them in the first round.
Jim Thorpe
Jim started off his career as a professional football player, later on he won the Olympic gold medal in the Decathlon and the Pentathlon. After winning the gold medals in decathlon and Pentathlon he went on playing professional baseball, after he retired from baseball he was elected as president.
George Herman (Babe Ruth)
George Herman, better known as Babe Ruth, started his baseball career with the Boston Red Sox in 1914. In 1920 he was traded to the New York Yankees, where he hit 714 home runs and set a legendary record for 60 home runs in a 154 game season.
Hazel Wightman/ Helen Wills
Hazel and Helen where partners for the Paris Olympic games and the Wimbledon tennis match. They won the doubles tennis match in both of them and became stars in 1924.
Ederle
Ederle won one gold and two bronze medals in the 1924 Olympic games, she smashed the women s freestyle swimming record. In 1926 at the age of 19, Ederle became the fiirst women to swim the English Channel from France to England.
