Flappers
Before the 1920's women had long hair and wore dresses most of the time. They didn't wear makeup and didn't care much about sexuality. Once the Twenties hit some women changed their whole appearance. They cut their hair to their shoulders, hemmed dresses to their knees, and wore a lot of make-up. They called these women Flappers. Flappers spent a lot of their time dancing, smoking, and were more outgoing with their sexual behavior. Women never smoked publicly before, it was considered just for the men, but Flappers were all about women having a new appearance and many chose to pick up a cigarette. Flappers were fast moving, appeared to have stark truthfulness and were middle class young women. When they wanted to have fun they would go to jazz clubs and Vaudeuille shows.
